"I love Christianity, Islam and many other faiths- through Hinduism"- Mahatma Gandhi

This is the world’s oldest religion and also the third largest religion in the world with over 1.25 billion followers. They are called Hindus and make up 15-16% of the world's population. It’s symbol(unofficial) is the ‘om’ or ‘Swastika’ sign which depicts peace. There are 33 million gods in Hinduism unlike any other religion. 95% of the Hindus in the world live in India. It started in 1500BC when the Aryans came along. Most of the beliefs are based on the Vedas, a collection of hymns. The main goal of life, according to Hinduism, is to attain salvation. In Hinduism there is a Holy Trinity. It consists of Brahma: The Creator, Shiva: The Destroyer and Vishnu: The Preserver. This religion, however, forbids one thing and that is eating beef. It's simply as there are a lot of people in India. Majority of them are poor. But by having a cow, they get dung as insect repellent and manure(they mostly farm), they get their skin for clothes and they get their milk as food(you can make a lot of things with milk). As Hinduism is an Indian religion and a cow does so much for Indians and also happens to be the ride of Shiva, one of the three main gods, it is only natural that we pay it respect by not eating it. According to Hinduism, after you die, your body will be burned and the ashes will be washed in the holy river Ganga. They say that is the way the soul of the person can attain peace. This religion is famous for the amount of festivals it owns as well. The most popular ones being Diwali, Dusherra and Holi. The religion is the same all over India, however the way people are different all over. It is a very unique religion.
